pardon the interruption

evening, folks!  this is booker and asa's mom.  i've taken over booker's blog for a moment because i had to pose a question to ya'll.   part of me is completely embarrassed for booker because i'm posting the below picture, and the other part of me thinks it's just too funny.
does anyone else's dog have such an attachment to a ball or toy that he/she does this?  booker does this pretty much every day.  haha.

fridays with asa: potpourri

hello there, my furry friends!  it is quite good to be back.
as you have noticed, the title of my post today is "potpourri".  in most cases, potpourri refers to a collection of flowers, herbs, and spices used to perfume a room.  however, potpourri can also refer to an amalgamation or collection of miscellaneous items, and that, my fair readers, is what i, asa, have in store for you today.
shall we commence then?  first, my mom requested that i share with you several pictures from a recent photo shoot.  some of you may not be aware of the fact that i have always had a fear of the camera.  i realize that this fear is irrational and silly, but nonetheless, it is one that i possess.  in an effort to aid me in overcoming this shortfall, my mom will sporadically subject me to impromptu sessions with the camera.  i must admit that i have made serious progress from these sessions, and my fear has almost dwindled to a mere discomfort.  ha.

ugh, mom.  honestly?  did you really feel the need to produce the camera whilst i was enjoying a relaxing afternoon slumber?

but wait...is that a most delectable morsel i spy in your hand?

indeed it is.  a tender, perfectly green bush bean awaiting my enjoyment.

mom, i shall regard you and the camera directly with the hope that i may partake of said morsel!

are you not proud of me, asa?  i am still fixating on the camera!

enough, woman!  i demand that you surrender the bush bean forthwith!!

now that the above foppishness is out of the way, i believe that the next item of business is an update following my surgery.  today marks exactly one month since my surgery to remove the MCT on my right thigh.  do you remember my somewhat large incision?

i am happy to report that the saying "time heals all wounds" is indeed accurate.  allow me to show you how my thigh looks today.
for goodness sake, booker, would you mind extricating your enormous nose from the picture?

there we go.  as you can observe, all of my stitches have been removed.  i was thankful that i did not have to return to madame vet's to have my stitches removed due to the fact that my mom regularly removes stitches from humans at the doctor's office where she works.  so my mom carefully de-stitched me, and my scar has smoothed out for the most part.  it is also becoming less and less pink as each day passes.  my fur is growing back in slowly but surely.

and finally, i am quite excited to present to all of you an update on my dad's garden!  i have been toiling very hard to ensure a successful harvest.

my dad's garden just after planting:

my dad's garden now:

isn't it amazing what 2 months of nurturing care can yield?  currently, mom, dad, booker, and myself are enjoying an endless harvest of pole beans and bush beans.  it is wonderful to go out to the garden after my parents get home from work and pick fresh beans for supper!  also, the cucumbers are now in season.  we just picked our first two this past week.  below is one of the ripe cucumbers that we picked, and then another cucumber growing on the vine:

the tomatoes and green peppers are approaching completion as well.  i believe one more week should do just the trick, and then we shall be ready for the first picking.

many thanks, friends, for sticking with me through this lengthy potpourri post.  i trust that you will have an excellent weekend and enjoy watching the world cup!
good day!

back in action!

hey diddle diddle, everybuddy!!
me 'n asa are back from summer camp, and boy howdy, did we have a grrreat time!  i wish we would've had our own personal photographer hooman so you could see a pupumentary of all the awesomeness that went on, but alas, we did not.  so you are gonna have to rely on your imaginations as i woof about our super cool adventures at summer camp!
i'll give ya'll a second to put on your imagination caps.  oh, and i asked google to help me out a little with some pictures just so your brains wouldn't go boom from too much imaginating.
ready??  okie dokie, here we go!
once upon a time (a.k.a. -- a week and a half ago), me and my big sis asa traveled to a far away place known as our totally spiffy summer camp.  it is a most magical like place, surrounded with big leafy trees and green grass, and the warm sunshinies are always around.

as soon as mama and daddy pulled into the parking lot, me and asa started dancing a jig in the back of the car cuz we were soooo full of the excitements!!  we most immediately ran up to the front desk to check in, not forgetting to help ourselves to the buffet of treatsies by the counter.  see all those delicous treatsies to choose from?  mmmmmm.

me and asa woofed good bye and gave gooey nose kisses to our mama and daddy, and then they turned to leave with kinda forlorn looks on their faces.  we told mama and daddy not to be sad about leaving us cuz we were gonna have funsies, but i think they were still a little mopey when they left.
anywho, after that, our nice camp counselor showed me and asa to our cabin!  it was a totally fab little cabin with a wrap around porch and lots of shady trees to tinkle on over and over and over again!

inside our cabin, there was a toasty fireplace and some way grrreat couches that me and asa got to snooze on!   oh, and there was a HOOGE bag of marshmallows, so we got to roast them over the fire!

every day, our camp counselor took us on these amazing nature walks.  me and asa learned about lots of animals and trees that live in the forest.  we even got to chase some squirrels around and show them who was boss.  the bestest part was that we got to dig in the dirt and clay to our hearts' content.  teeheehee.

one afternoon, somethingie totally incredible happened.  we were walkin' along in the woods, and we found the teddy bears' picnic!  can you believe it?!

now at first me and asa were a smidge nervous cuz we had heard that these bear folks can get kinda cranky.  well, they were as nice as could be, and they invited us to join in on their picnic.  of course we woofed YES!  then i sniffed one of my most favoritest smells evarrr -- grillin' meats!  for pete's sake, they were grillin' snausages!!  and while we waited for the snausages to finish, there was a ginormous table full of cheeses to nom.  (oh, my dear miss mayzie, you would have just fainted in delight!)

after we had stuffed ourselves silly, me and asa woofed farewell to our new bear friendz and headed back to camp.  when we got to our cabin, we jumped up on our cushy couches and immediately fell asleep cuz our bellies were so full.
the next morning, we woke up and remembered that mama and daddy were coming to pick us up!  while we did have a most excellent time at camp, we were really missing our parents and couldn't wait to see them.  it turns out my mama and daddy had the last laugh, though.  somehow, they figured out that we were gonna be covered in the dirts and clay, and they didn't tell us that we had been scheduled for a bath and groom.  egads!

finally after 50 gazillion hours, me and asa finished getting scrubbed and having our furs fluffed.  we each got a red and white checkered bandana to wear, so that was pretty cool and sort of made up for the bath.  then our camp counselor came in and told us that mama and daddy had arrived, and he took us out to be reunited at last!

oh yeah, some of ya'll asked where my parents went while me and asa were at summer camp.  well, they went to a bunch of super hot 'n tropically places and did crazy ridiculous thingies like this:

the end!
