fridays with asa: the great outdoors

hello there, my furry friends!  a wonderful friday to you, and i hope this day finds you well.
as you may have ascertained, i am an introspective dog.  i enjoy pondering life's deep questions and mysteries.  some of my best thinking takes place outdoors, rightly so, as it is my favorite place to be.  oh, do not mistake me; few things can surpass snuggling under the covers with my mom or dad, but there is just something quite inspirational about being outside.
at home, you will most likely find me on my back deck.  i stand and survey my domain, which is teeming with smells and sights and sounds.  when my senses have been overwhelmed, i break for a respite and bask in the warmth of the sun.  i find this most satisfactory.

then there are those special occasions where my mom and dad take me and my little brother for a glorious hike or camping trip.  it is on these outings that i truly grasp the magnitude of the world before my eyes.  i am but one dog, a tiny pin prick on this great landscape.  assuredly, it is a humbling experience.

i hope that all of you will take the opportunity this weekend to enjoy some time outside and consider the majestic beauty before you.
by the way, i wanted to personally thank you all for your marked concern over the bath time pictures from wednesday's post.  though my little brother and i have clearly mastered the art of appearing forlorn, i assure you that we were each handsomely rewarded post-bath with a delectable greenie.
good day!

Hello Asa, you certainly are a deep thinker. I like that. The pic of you on that giant fallen tree was pretty scary. Sooooo I guess you should add BRAVE to your list of attributes. Super post.

Asa-
You have been some srsly cool places it looks like! Mama has promised me some fun adventures like that as well. I must so though you also have a very pretty kingdom of a backyard. Mama is coveting your fence. We need a new one and she's trying to decide what kind to put in. I think your pictures just help make the decision!
Have a good weekend!

It looks like you have the best adventures outside. We're waiting for the weather to warm up again in Chicago; we don't have as much nice nature, but it's so nice to be out when everyone else is out too.

I have to agree that you are a Deep Thinker, Asa and I enjoy reading your thoughts. You do have some pawsome nature in your neck of the woods. I think I'd draw the line at crossing on that log, though. And I wouldn't let my humans do it either. They're not very coordinated. Have a great weekend and thank you for the wise words.

You take some excellent walks, Asa! I'm impressed! As a matter of fact, we went out today for a nice long hike that we'll be writing about for Monday. It was glorious! However, sadly, there were no waterfalls or tree logs to walk across.

Yep, we're hdeading out for a hike today! It snowed here a little yesterday (after being 83 degrees LAST Friday, if you can believe that), but today is a perfect spring day! Now, where's my harness....

Hi Asa, our lazy Mom has returned to the laptop so we can snoop around. We enjoyed your post very much, from relaxing on the deck to hiking in the snow. You can add our vote to the picture of you at the waterfall being our favorite too. And we Alaskan dogs just LOVE your fashionable jacket. Looks very toasty.

We got out for a walk this weekend and helped our mom rake a few leaves. As the snow melts in our yard she rakes the leaves that surface. This way as the snow recedes the yard get gradually raked so it is not the big raking production when the snow is all gone. Our mom may be lazy but she is sure smart like you, Asa! We sat on our deck too, until the sun went away. Well, thanks for the fun post! We are off to supervise Mom getting ready to play tennis. xoxo
