good evening, my furry friends!
i apologize for the delay of my friday post, but as most of you know, i had surgery on tuesday and have been recovering in the comfort of my home. as it so happened, i decided to take a late afternoon nap only to wake up and discover that i had slumbered for a solid 3 hours. goodness gracious!
i am quite thankful for all of the love and support that you have given to my mom over the past week. your kindness has been a comfort to my mom, which in turn has put me at ease. now i did want to let you know that my mom spoke with madame vet this afternoon concerning my pathology results. the mass on my thigh is a mast cell tumor, but i shall choose to dwell on the positive! the MCT is only a stage 2 (out of 4), and the margins came back clear, meaning the entire tumor was excised and nothing was left behind on me. i am very thankful to report that at this time, i do not require any further treatments. my parents will be quite conscientious in examining me for any new masses in the future. if i do develop a new MCT or the MCT reappears on my thigh, then i will be referred to a surgeon and an oncologist for re-excision and chemotherapy treatments.
there is one other small item for which i would appreciate your good thoughts and prayers. you see, my mom has been quite kind by not subjecting me to the cone of humiliation. i am ashamed to admit that i had a moment of weakness thursday morning when i had to rest alone in my crate for a few hours, and i licked my incision on my thigh. as a result, it has become red and hot, a sign of infection. i commenced on a regimen of antibiotic treatment this evening, which i surely hope will remedy the infection.
in closing, my mom requested that i mention how lamentable it is that we have only been able to visit a pawful of your blogs this week. please forgive us as this past week has been quite trying. we anticipate our schedule returning to its normal pace over the next week, and we hope to resume visiting all of you in the near future!
good day!

Miss Asa, your health and well being is most important! We are so happy to hear that the worst is already behind you. Hawk once had to have some staples and he licked them a lot like you did. The vet prescribed a spray for him that really helped it to get better. Do take care of yourself!

We're so happy you are getting well and hopefully, the nasty thing is completely gone. Everytime you want to lick, think about that cone!
Glad to have you back on the blog!
XXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella
I'm so glad that it's gone and clear margines are a very good thing. Just try not to lick anymore and the antibiotics will do their work and you'll be fully back to yourself in no time.
wags, Lola
Continue to rest until you are 100% better! I hope you will have a fun (but restful) weekend!
Whew Asa that was scary. I am glad that IT is gone and the margins are clear. That is the bestest news.
You may know that Mona is going through this same issue. Perhaps you could become a support group for each other. Mona's mom isn't posting much now either.
We certainly understand that!!! YOU are the most important one right now.
I know it is hard to resist that licky thing. Butt you don't want that infection thingy. I'll cross my paws for you.
Hi Asa
We're sad that your lump turned out to be cancerous, but glad your vet was able to remove the lump with clear margind.
We think being positive is the way to go.
No licking.
Love Ruby & Penny
Yay for you Asa!
Please try your best not to lick your booboos. The cone of shame is not a fun thing to wear. Hi to the Booker Man!
Woofs and Licks,
Maggie Mae

Puddles
Dear Most Sweet Asa! I am so very much happy that the bad thing is gone from your leg. And I know it's hard but leaves your ouchie alone, 'kay? And then pretty soon you'll be up and running around like crazy with your Brudder Booker again! Won't that be fun?
Wiggles & Wags,
Mayzie
We think the positive outweighs the negative -- so we're happy for you. No lickies, OK? -- But there are "soft" cones of shame that are less shameful if you really have to lick.
Wirey woofs,
Jake and Just Harry
Hi Asa,
Glad to hear that your ouchie is finally removed... don't worry too much about it, just take it easy.
Licks, hero
I'm glad that the vet has taken care of things and you don't need further treatment. Let your ouchie heel, now!

Donot lick ur boo boos please? we want you to get better faster and be ur normal happy self.
Don't at all worry about lagging behind in blogreading.we want u to get better n that is the most important thing right now.
with lots of love n healing wishes,

Dearest Asa,
We are SO pleased you have such a good vet who investigated everything, did the surgery in one go and is taking such good care of you now, with the analysing and stuff like that. You are in good hands! You are one tough (and pretty!) cookie - and very brave too.
You are quite right to think about the positive - tell your folks not to worry, the scary stuff is over now and it all went well. We know it's human nature to worry - not doggie nature but human nature - humans are weird like that! So we bet they might still feel a little jittery, but tell them to take a leaf out of our books! You are doing good and the icky stuff has gone - end of!!
We're sending all our healing vibes your way for your cuts to heal nicely.
Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.
Dear Asa and Bookerman's Mom,
I found an anitbacterial spray called DERMOPLAST at the human market which has worked very well on various k-9 boo-boo's we've encountered. It's nice because you can just swoop in and spray and not have to create any more discomfort for your baby.
Oh Asa, what a relief that as of right now, there won't be any additional treatment required! I thought a lot about you and your Mom this past week and kept you in my prayers. Hopefully this will be the last of the MCT!
I had a very sick kitty who had a lot of kidney and bladder issues which cost me a fortune over the years but never had to worry about chemo or radiation. That would've scared me even more, I think!
Hope that infection heals up very quickly. It sounds painful!
Have a wonderful weekend!
hello asa its dennis the vizsla dog hay gud nooz abowt the mast sell toomer!!! as gud as mast sell toomer nooz can be!!! i hope yore infekshun kleers up soon!!! ok bye
Clean margins are good, Asa. We hope you have a very good and long life ahead of you. But do leave the incision area alone - the cone is not a lot of fun. Phantom can tell you all about that - he had a similar mass removed on his chest last year and had to wear a shirt forever.
Woos - Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
Clear margins are a good thing - we hope the infection is subsiding.
XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Ruairi
So happy to hear WONDERFUL news!
"Clean margins" is music to very happy ears!
Positive outlook is key, along wif diligence in lump & bump detection division...! And that is second nature when you are so fankful!
Asa, please to join me... and let's beat these MCTs!!! We can do it!!!
wif love from the Luke
P.S. My the Mom learn the hard way that the cone makes short... a long recovery, otherwise.
I now humor her.
Just sayin.
P.S. The Bookerman might need a cone, too... as me and the Bleu have each been caught tendin the other's bobo. Oops. Sorry to bust the future you. But just sayin.
I am sorry, i didn't know about your operation.
My secretary has been busy.
I hope you get better soon, Asa.
Sending happy thoughts your way :)
Love, Bella.
Dear Miss Asa,
I am so happy that those nasties are gone. We'll send prayers up that they don't come back ever again!! I know it's hard but try not to lick - it will go away fast that way!!
Snuggles to you and your mom!!
Wags,
Zona
Asa, I'm so glad the news was relatively pawsitive! We have been worried about you. Now, what is more important? Licking the boo boo or staying out of the cone of shame? You have to make a decision here....
Snuggles,
Twix
We are sending prayers your way!
Kisses,
Emma Rose
Glad to hear that you're getting better and have enough rest. Enjoy those naps too!
Rest = Recovery! So glad to hear they got ALL the tumor out - you are so wise to stick to pawsitive thoughts - so are we! Da cone is a good thing sometimes - the soft ones, if they'll work for Asa, seemed to work better for Sam! Rest and don't worry about blogs!
Hugs xoxoxoxo
Sammie
Oh Asa, I hope your ouchie goes away really soon! You better leave it alone or my momma said she is going to call your momma and tattle on woo!
Sheesh, I go away for a few days and I come back to this. I really really hope you feel at least a smidget better.
Tell Booker that he has to be extra nice to woo....for now....hey, I would take what I could get. lol.
Wags and woofs,
Mack and Mia
Thanks for the update! Even though it wasn't all the sunniest news, at least the margins were clear on the tumors! And you have such a great attitude, a little cancer is neer gonna get you down! We'll keep you and your family in our thoughts!

My sister and I have both had mast cells removed. That was more than 2 years ago and no recurrence! Mine was a stage 3 with good margins and Jada's were 2 with good margins! I'm sure Asa will do awesome!
Wags!
Mr. Nubbin'
Asa, I am sorry you had to go thru all this, but I think it will be another "Nubbin Tail"--all better!
